🧊 Active Start Program - Edmonton Ringette

Welcome to Active Start, Edmonton Ringette's foundational program designed to introduce young athletes to the joy of skating and the excitement of ringette in a fun, inclusive, and non-competitive environment.

🎯 Program Overview

Active Start is all about building confidence, coordination, and friendships - on and off the ice. Through playful group activities and mini-games, children learn the basics of skating and ringette in a safe and supportive setting.

• Age Group: For players born between 2019 and 2021
• Schedule:
  • Session: Sept 27, 2025 - March 2026 (approximately 20 weeks)
• Cost: $200 + Ringette Alberta Membership ($91.50)
• Each player will be provided with a jersey for them to keep
• Participation in the January 2026 Silver Ring Jamboree

🛼 What We Focus On

• Developing basic skating skills: balance, stride, stopping, turning
• Introducing ringette fundamentals: sending, receiving, and carrying the ring
• Encouraging social interaction: teamwork, sharing, and taking turns
• Building confidence through fun challenges and positive reinforcement

We use modified ice surfaces to ensure every child feels comfortable and engaged.

🧤 Equipment Requirements

All participants must wear full ringette equipment, including:

• Certified helmet with ringette cage
• Neck guard
• Shoulder and chest protection
• Elbow pads
• Protective gloves
• Ringette pants or hockey pants with shin pads and socks
• Girdle
• Knee/shin pads
• Skates
• Ringette stick

Players without full equipment will not be permitted on the ice.

Hello! I'm Erin Klatt, your Active Start Coordinator. I've been involved in ringette for over 20 years as a player and coach, and I'm passionate about helping young athletes discover the magic of this sport. I'm here to support your child's journey and answer any questions you may have.
